Meeting with the tour leader, after which we will head to Niepokalanowo and visit Franciscan monastery \u2013 the shrine located in the village called Paprotnia. The monastery was founded by Saint Maximilian Kolbe in 1927. Before the outbreak of World War II the monastery building was home to 760 monks, where Niepokalan\u00f3w served as a significant publishing house of religious printed materials. We will visit the wooden Old Chapel regarded as the cradle of the monastery. It is there that the monastic brothers took their vows and nearby is the preserved room of Saint Maximilian Kolbe. Today\u2019s Niepokalan\u00f3w is an important pilgrimage center, while Saint Mary\u2019s Basilica was constituted a shrine. After dinner, we will drive to \u017belazowa Wola and walk along the streets of Frederic Chopin\u2019s hometown. We will see the wellpreserved tenement houses of affluent residents of Gda\u0144sk, and the most popular landmarks of Gda\u0144sk; the Artus Court, Gda\u0144sk Main Town Hall and Neptune\u2019s Fountain. We will walk down D\u0142ugie Pobrze\u017ce to the Motlawa River and see the old medieval port crane, whose lifting mechanism is still operating. We will go through Mariacka Street and head toward the Basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary with a precious 16th century altar. At this point of the trip we will enjoy our free time. Then, we will visit the Museum of the Second World War. Located 14 meters underground, its main exhibition is the place to reflect on the atrocities and terror of the Second World War. In the museum, we will see the collection of around two thousand exhibits and numerous modern multimedia displays. On our way to Toru\u0144, the next city on our route, we will stop in G\u00f3rsk \u2013 the place where Jerzy Popie\u0142uszko, the Roman Catholic priest, was kidnapped. In Toru\u0144 we will visit the Shrine of Our Lady Star of the New Evangelization and St. John Paul II, whose interiors are decorated with numerous mosaics, stained glass, Biblical paintings, the Stations of the Cross and a collection of pictures of 34 Saints and Great Poles. After that, we will head to the Old and New Town of Toru\u0144 with its 13th century historical old town. We will see the Gothic Old Town Hall with a clock tower, Arthus\u2019 Court, the Star House, the Nicolaus Copernicus Monument, The Gothic Cathedral of St. John the Baptist and St. John the Evangelist, the Gothic churches of Saint Mary, Saint Jacob\u2019s Church, the Copernicus\u00a0<\/p><p>House, and the Leaning Tower. Jasna G\u00f3ra Monastery with its most significant buildings, including the Chapel of the Virgin Mary, the Basilica, the Tower, the Knight\u2019s Hall, the armory building, and the monastery treasure house has witnessed a number of historical and contemporary events. Jasna G\u00f3ra Museum holds a collection of numerous masterpieces and votive offerings of unique value, which are evidence for Our Lady mercifully hearing the prayers of the pilgrims. We will also walk along the defensive walls of the shrine (old military fortifications) and visit the stations of the rosary that surround the Jasna G\u00f3ra square. We will climb up Cathedral\u2019s Sigismund Tower, where at the top, hang a number of bells, including the largest 8-ton Sigismund Bell from 1521. The real jewel of the Cathedral is the Renaissance Royal Chapel called Sigismund\u2019s Chapel with its characteristic golden dome built in the 16th century. Then, we will visit the underground crypts \u2013 the burial place of Polish Kings and national heroes. We will also visit the permanent exhibition of the Royal State Rooms belonging to the National Art Collection. The exhibition displayed in the Royal Private Apartments includes the famous tapestries of the King Sigismund Augustus and magnificent Italian masterpieces of the House of Lanckoro\u0144ski (an old Polish aristocratic family). After that, we will walk along The Royal Road and see the Barbakan, Floria\u0144ska Gate, Floria\u0144ska Street, the Main Square and the cloth hall Sukiennice, Adam Mickiewicz Monument, Town Hall Tower, St. Mary\u2019s Basilica with the famous and the largest alterpiece in the world and finally the Romanesque Church of St Wojciech. We will also see the venerated painting of Divine Mercy, originally covered by the painting of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, which is placed in the left side-aisle altar. Then, we will visit the new basilica of the Divine Mercy Sanctuary. The itinerary includes a visit to John Paul II Center \u201eDon\u2019t be afraid!\u201d and the Sanctuary of Saint John Paul II. It is important to note the Sanctuary holds a number of relics of St. John Paul II. Later on, the same day, we will drive to Wieliczka to visit the Salt Mine and the Saltworks Museum via the Tourist Route.
